Since opening in February 2006, Uprising has been heavily involved with Community Projects through its guests and staff, who participate in various activities to make a difference in the local community. From building libraries, painting schools, maintaining and improving sports fields, planting mangroves and to supplying financial assistance to various villages from all over Fiji, there is a platform to give back!

Whether you are travelling with a group or as an individual, Uprising is able to assist with you with adding purpose to your Fiji holiday. We specialize in group, volunteer & student travel by providing the ideal environment to keep your trip more rewarding and enriching during your stay with us.

Uprising Beach Resort Environmental Commitment

Uprising, in partnership with Mangroves For Fiji (MFF), is committed to becoming a 100% carbon neutral resort by 2018.

In order to achieve this, we are required to plant no less than 15 hectares of mangroves to offset our daily emissions as calculated by the team at Mangroves For Fiji. You can also assist us with this by collecting mangrove seedlings and planting them in our nursery. We will then transplant these into their natural environment once they are ready.

Depending on where you are visiting from, you can offset the emissions from your flights to Fiji by planting the total number of mangroves as recommended by our partners from Mangroves For Fiji. To date, over 13 hectares of mangroves have been planted around Fiji including the Navua River Delta, Malake Island in Rakiraki, the Coral Coast as well as in the wider Serua area. This initiative has been recognised and adopted by other resorts around Fiji for its simplicity and ease yet greater impact for our small Pacific Island nation. We currently hold a national record with Mangroves For Fiji for most single mangroves planted in a day. This is something we are very proud of and will continue to challenge ourselves to beat.
